version you may have installed; since it is possible to choose an
older one from within Preferences? (Appears you have a 1.5 Java.)
Snow Leopard 10.6 has later versions, if you OS X has been updated
to 10.6.7 via the Combo file download, a later Java is available to you.
In March, there was a newer version for Snow Leopard, note:

And older ones, in sequence, would have to be installed before the last Java can work.
Those, only on the back of the earlier one, and with a later OS X 10.6 combo update.

Some users with other Java interests, not the web site you mention,
had sought later Java versions and in unrelated Discussion topics,
stated there was a later (not officially recognized) Java version for
Mac, perhaps for developers. Whether or not the Java version you
need is available for PPC-based Mac or Intel-based Mac is unknown.
Or, if it'd make a difference; without running another version of OS X.
Almost a similar issue, in a way, regarding failed adobe Flash support
for PowerPC computers running Tiger 10.4.11 and Leopard 10.5.8.
Some parts of web pages including animation access, requires these.
Are there any error codes or error console notices in Firefox indicating
what parts of a web page fail to load and why, in the page you seek?
If your OS X isn't up to date, that would come before a Java update.

support, can come up with an answer. With limited bandwidth online,
I don't experiment with content, due to high cost & a low ceiling of use.
Another thought: is your computer's OS X up-to-date (Combo update)
if not, then after, run Software Update to look for a Java RE update..?
The information in your post signature line shows earlier Snow Leopard.
PS: You've posted this in a Leopard 10.5.8 discussion area; while it seems
your computer is running Snow Leopard 10.6, and not the last update step.
A combo update would open up the possibility of some other Java version
being available or supported by Snow Leopard..
After OS X 10.6, Java support appears to be diminished, subject to change;
as things go, the consumer level is almost the last to know final results.
There should be a JRE version 1.6 (under cover of other name?) available
and that should've been in a Software Update; if your OS X is current to date.
(Unless your signature line OS X information is about a different OS X configuration.)
