I purchased iLife 09 from Amazon and installed iDVD, but when I tried to install iMovie 09 it wouldn't install because it detected the newer version. Since 10.9 is only a few months old, I can't imagine it being out of support. Surely there is a way through official channels to purchase a copy of iMovie compatible with 10.9, right?
Sure, I could upgrade to 10.10, but I don't want to have to charge the kid labor to do so and him doing it on his own seems far above what he is capable of doing. Otherwise he would have already done it, ya know?
